Recruitment & Appointment

The foremost task assigned to this Department relates to recruitment of State Civil Servants through Orissa Public Service Commission and Orissa Staff Selection Commission. Within the period 2004-05, the OPSC finalized and recommended the list of selected candidates to the following Departments for their induction in Government Service as per table below.

Two direct recruit IAS officers have been allocated to the State I.A.S Cadre for the year 2004-05 and they are undergoing professional course training at Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration, Mussoorie. Five direct recruits of IPS officers have been allocated to the Orissa Cadre of I.P.S during the year 2004-05. No direct recruit I.F.S Officer has been allocated to the State I.F.S cadre during the year 2004-05.

On the basis of Orissa Civil Services Examination-2000,OPSC recommended 266 suitable candidates for appointment. After completing medical examination and character and antecedent verification 261 selected candidates have been appointed to State Civil Services.

The O.P.S.C have considered 282 cases for adjudging the suitability of 9979 Officers on the basis of C.C.Rs / Service Records received from various departments of Government and recommended 3013 Officers for appointment by way of promotion. Besides the Commission have finalized inter-se-seniority and retrospective promotion in respect of 12 Officers during the period under report.
